Pringle Wind Ensemble
Hannah Trewartha is a passionate music educator who is currently based in Port Hedland, WA. Growing up in Bendigo, Victoria, she was part of the thriving community music world. Undertaking her BMus in Performance (trombone) at ANU School of Music led her to instrumental teaching and finding her love for music education.
Moving to Young, NSW, she taught all things brass, singing, and theory, and conducted multiple ensembles, solidifying her desire for further study, and completing her Grad Dip of Education (Secondary Music).
She moved back to Bendigo to teach brass in the program she had learnt in as a teenager. Leading multiple school and community bands on tours, and local and national competitions. As well as this, she travelled between Bendigo and Melbourne twice a week to play 1st trombone for the Hawthorn Brass Band. She migrated so often to Melbourne that she eventually moved there in 2014 to teach across an array of schools in her 6 years there. She held various roles and completed many forms of study during this time, including her Master of Education – Leadership & The Arts from the University of Melbourne.
2021 brought a significant change to her life, and she moved to Broome, WA, to start the Broome North Primary School classroom music program. 2022 saw the beginning of the Instrumental Music School Services Broome Brass Band program, and 2023 the Broome Town Band.
Port Hedland is her current base, where she is building her music consultancy company, Treford Music, teaching casually, and working with the community. Most recently, she has started the Hedland Town Band as well as revamped the Hedland Community Choir. Hannah loves to see people fall in love with making music and strives to always bring fun into the rehearsal room through a solid education of foundations.
Hannah first came to Border Music Camp in 2016 as the brass tutor in Pringle, and she has been conducting Pringle since 2022.
