Jenny Ferris
Brass

Jenny Ferris grew up in Melbourne. She attended Glen Waverley Secondary College, where she first fell in love with the horn. She followed this love to the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music where she completed a Bachelor of Music in 2012 and a Masters of Music (Performance Teaching) in 2014 . She worked during this time as an instrumental music teacher across various schools in Melbourne.

As part of her Masters, Jenny came across the Kodály philosophy of music education, and thus began her second love. She pursued further training and completed the Australian Kodály Certificate in 2017. However, this wasn't enough and Jenny decided to chase this passion further, leading to her moving to Hungary to undertake studies at the prestigious Kodály Institute, where she completed a Diploma and a Masters in Kodály Music Pedagogy.

Jenny has presented various Kodály workshops and seminars across Australia, Europe and Asia. She is now an active member of the Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia.

She returned to Australia in 2025 and has since taken up a position as the music teacher at Newport Lakes Primary School, where she gets to marry her twin passions of Kodály classroom teaching and instrumental music teaching.

Jenny has been tutoring horn at Border Music Camp since 2015. She sadly never attended as a student and can only dream of the musician she would be today if she had.
