Kate Gale
Brass

Katherine Gale grew up in Melbourne, attending University High School and then the Victorian College of the Arts, where she received a Bachelor of Music Performance on trombone (which, we can all agree, is the instrument everyone actually wants to play).

After graduating, she moved to Adelaide, where she studied education at the University of Adelaide. Katherine first attended Border Music Camp as a student from 1999 to 2003. Since 2005, she has worked on the camp as a trombone and brass tutor, and as a librarian.

Katherine initially worked in several schools in South Australia as a classroom and instrumental music teacher. Now, though, she works as a primary classroom music teacher in international schools. Currently working at the Australian International School Saigon, she oversees the curriculum and organises events, trips and concerts. For the last decade, she has been based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, but still comes back each year for Border Music Camp. When asked, Katherine says, ‘Not only has Border Camp been a constant in my life, it has consistently made me a better teacher, musician and person.’
