Thomas Summerfield
Accompanist
Thomas began his Border Music Camp journey in 2013 on the cello, as an overly enthusiastic member of Cran. For the following few years, he returned to Camp with his cello, although in 2017, he made the difficult decision to relocate himself to another section: percussion!
Thomas currently resides in Melbourne, where he is undertaking an honours year for the Bachelor of Music (Performance) course at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He has performed in orchestras for several theatre productions – including The Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins, Cats, and Chicago. In 2023, he was the music director of Trinity College’s a capella ensemble, Tiger Tones.
In addition to the piano, he holds an ARSM diploma in classical pipe organ. In 2017, he was invited to perform in the ‘Young Organists’ Day’ Recital on the Sydney Town Hall Organ. And in 2025, he played the organ for the University of Melbourne Wind Symphony Orchestra’s collaborative program Together – a joint program with the Royal Australian Air Force Band.
Since 2023, Thomas has been on staff as the Camp accompanist. He is looking forward to collaborating with both new and returning campers for Border Music Camp in 2026!
